Thanksgiving

Here are some Thanksgiving cookies. Had fun with the turkeys. Here are some other turkeys I have fun with:

At their Thanksgiving feasts at school. This was right before Weston puked at the table because he was forced to try the mashed potatoes. I was supermom and managed to catch all puke in napkins with minimal disruption to the feast. Good times.

Halloween Cookies and Kids

What is Halloween without....COOKIES? Who wants boring candy.

This is who. My Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle. He taught my sweet little bee what this is all about. Sippy cup, candy bag and lollipop in mouth and she's ready to go. He did offer for her to stay home and he would take her bag and get candy for her. Right. I'm sure she would get the candy.

Race Car Cookies

"How about some Nascar cookies for my husband's birthday?"
"Sure, no problem."

Except I know nothing about Nascar other than checkered flags and "Gentlemen, start your engines". My "go to" site for cookie ideas had 3 pictures of race car cookies. Not very inspiring. So I searched and asked for ideas and this is what I came up with. What does the rpm dial even go up to? I just had to guess.

Who would have thought that cookie decorating would lead me to the Nascar website? And, who buys those dye-cast cars on that site for that much money???

Sweet Girl Cookies

My dear friend Allyson welcomed a baby girl into the world on Oct. 9th. I helped them celebrate by- go ahead and guess- making cookies! I sent them a few days ahead of the scheduled delivery so they could bribe nurses with yummies and send friends that came to visit home with a little treat. Welcome Baby Charlotte! Can't wait to meet you!

Superhero Cookies

It's been a Super week around here getting ready for a Super party with lots of Superhero cookies for a Super little guy who turned 3. These were challenging but really fun. Weston was the only critical one wondering where the bump was for Spiderman's nose. Details, details.

Jumping cake pops

My sweet little cake pops were giving me such a hard time yesterday. They kept jumping off the sticks. Couldn't convince them to hang on. But look how nice cake pops can be when they ditch the stick. Pretend they are in a lovely tin instead of Gladware. I'm thinking they should always be stickless.

Summer to Fall Cookies

I made these cookies for an "End of Summer" office party. I just bought some fall cutters and was excited to use them. Squirrel, acorn, leaves. But then, when it came time to fill in the details on the squirrel, I went blank. Guess I need to pay more attention to the little boogers running around the yard because those cookies need some work. So if you see me sitting outside staring off into the yard, I'm doing research. I am not just brain dead from answering the same question over and over and over to a 4 year old or trying to guess what a 1 year old wants when all she does is nod or shake her head. And nodding can mean either yes or no.

Time for me to eat the squirrels that didn't make the cut with a glass of wine.

Bzzz Cookies

I love making these bee and beehive cookies. The bees are just perfect bite-size. This is good if I give all the cookies away. This is bad if I just keep eating one every time I walk through the kitchen.

Surf's Up Dude! Cookies

I had so much fun making these surfer theme cookies for my friend's son's 5th birthday.

Here they all bagged on sticks. I made blue cake balls to look "oceany". The men at the party got a kick out of "blue balls". They never grow up do they? Didn't seem to stop them from eating them though.
Happy Birthday Liam!

Princess Cookies

Weston had 2 birthday parties today. It's hard to keep up with the social calendar of a 4 year old. I made these for Princess Sophie's gift basket. Wes picked the colors and did the sprinkles for me.

I made some cake balls in matching colors.

Then I a few little toys and put it all together for her gift. Hopefully her mom is taking my advice and enjoying the cake balls with some white wine right about now.

Tomorrow will be Liam's Surfer cookies...

Kate's 1st bday cake and cookies

I know. Kate's bday was several months ago. I have been busy doing some cute cookies for one of Weston's friend's 5th bday but guess what? Forgot to take pictures when I had them all laid out. They are all tucked away in the freezer until Saturday.

Here are the cookies I made and used as the favors.

Cake Pops

I really wish I could claim this as my own idea. Guess I could but then I would have to explain how to do it. So out of laziness and a mild case of morals, check out www.bakerella.com. Basically it's squished up cake mixed with frosting then formed into cupcakes (need to work on this part) then dipped in chocolate. I used red velvet cake and cream cheese frosting. I then shared them with my neighbor without mentioning what type of cake I used. She's allergic to red velvet. Fortunately she realized it immediately and no 911 call was made. Everyone else said they were delish and I have to agree.
Here they are all dressed up and ready to go out for the allergy test.

Popsicles

Weston and I made popsicles. Strawberries and yogurt. These are the kind of popsicles my kids can have for breakfast and that makes everyone happy!
Spellcheck just flagged "popsicle" because it should be capitalized. Who knew?

Almost the Easiest Cookies Ever

I made some easy and yummy lemon cookies today. I think these might be the easiest cookies I have ever made other than those handy break apart ones. These stay soft in the middle. The secret ingredient is.....a cake mix. I've seen these recipes floating around and finally tried it. Gotta love when the cake mixes are BOGO!

1 box lemon cake mix
2 eggs
1/3 cup oil
1 tsp. lemon extract

Mix up. Form into teaspoon balls and roll in some powdered sugar. Bake at 375 for about 7 minutes.

I had help rolling in the sugar. He was ready to lick that bowl of sugar clean when we were done.

I'm thinking of some other cake/extract flavors and instead of rolling in sugar using a sugar glaze. Let me know if you try them and what you think!

Cookies for the 4th

Some of the cookies I made for the 4th. Like that one on the right that looks like the nuclear warning sign? Oops.

Still working on the flip-flops. I need to figure out something better. But isn't it great that you can buy a flip-flop cookie cutter?

This was the 1st time I tried this. I like how it turned out. I was thinking tie dye, Wes was thinking Spiderman.
